VOX Super Continental

1.2.1

Version 1.2.1

  • When a single Performance is selected in the Librarian, a new contextual menu item is available: Add To Set List. This has the same functionality as the similar command in the Performance Selector at the top of the window. Note that this command will not appear if more than one Performance is selected.

  • Previously, the standalone application would hang at startup if the buffer size was set to 16 samples. This has now been fixed.

  • Previously, newly created Set Lists or newly imported data might not have been visible immediately, depending on the Librarian's filter settings. Now, creating a new Set List or importing data automatically clears those filter settings.

  • Selecting a performance from the Librarian window now also sets the Performance Selector to use the Librarian's search and filter criteria.

  • The Librarian list view now selects new or updated items after import, and deselects all items on undo.

  • Import is now supported in demo mode.

  • Added new contextual menu commands to the Performance Selector at the top left of the window: "Select in Librarian," and "Export…," and "Add To Set List..." "Select In Librarian" switches to the Librarian page with the current Performance selected. "Export" does the same, and then brings up the dialog to export the Performance to disk. "Add To Set List..." brings up a dialog allowing the user to add the Performance to any slot in the Active Set List; the slot defaults to the first Init Performance, if present, or otherwise to slot A1.

  • Improved the logic for item selection when updating metadata. Selection is now preserved if you edit text and press Enter. Selection is also now preserved after editing metadata when the list is sorted by modification date.

  • Previously, immediately after startup, keyboard commands would not work until the user clicked in the main window area. This has now been fixed.

  • Add a new contextual menu for Mod Matrix items: "Delete Mod Routing."

  • In Set Lists, the background color of the name text editor is now the same as that of the set list slots.

  • Previously, for numeric editing fields, the text flashed briefly when clicking inc/dec. This has now been fixed. Also, the inc/dec buttons are now slightly larger.

  • Improved overall consistency of highlight-on-hover. MIDI Map and Mod Matrix entries now have highlights on hover, and effects text edits (such as the Harmonic Chorus LFO note multiplier) now show in the effect's color.

  • Improved the graphic appearance and differentiation of some of the effects, especially the small versions shown in the overview.

  • The QWERTY arrow keys now control inc/dec when a numeric field is selected or a popup value bubble is showing.

  • Disabled Save icons are now correctly dimmed in Demo mode.

  • In the MIDI Map, for high resolution parameters, when the Min or Max values are set to the maximum parameter value, the decrement button now works properly.

  • Previously, on some systems, the factory data download could potentially fail. This has now been fixed.

  • The factory data download screen now also includes a check for available software updates.

  • Revised version number placement in the About box to improve legibility.

1.1.4

  • Restored support for Splice licensing.
  • Previously, the Librarian contextual menu inadvertently included the Open Scale Editor command, which does not apply to the Vox Continental. This has now been fixed.
  • Windows only: the MIDI Map's contextual menu now appears at the correct size when running inside a host DAW on a high-dpi monitor.

1.1.3

  • Window Size settings now affect combo-boxes, menus, and Set List windows.
  • In the Librarian window and Selector dialogs, in the Filters section on the left, the list of Categories now hides unused Categories.
  • In the standalone software's Audio/MIDI Settings dialog, the height of the MIDI device selector is now improved.
  • Windows only: closing a specific Set List window may also close other set list windows.
  • Windows only: Improved high-dpi support on Windows. Previously, contextual menus, alert messages. and Set List windows could appear too small.

1.1.2

  • Improved workflow for initial installation of sound data; the user only needs to select a destination folder if installing to a non-default location.
  • MIDI Mapping is improved in several ways. Previously, inactive mappings (to un-selected effects, for instance) were hidden; now they are always displayed. The effect type is now included in the parameter name. MIDI Mapping for effects enable is now common to the effect slot, rather than being independent per effect type.
  • In the Librarian, if a Collection is selected and then all of its items are deleted or moved out of the Collection, the Collection name is now removed from the filters list.
  • Previously, if the user edited a Set List, closed the Set List window, and then used Undo, a crash could occur. This has now been fixed.
  • Previously, the Import and Export progress dialogs might not have closed properly. This has now been fixed.
  • Previously, if there was an uppercase/lowercase mismatch between the preferences and the actual file system for the path to the key-contacts data, a crash could occur when playing a note. This has now been fixed.
  • Removed duplicate Tune target parameter in Mod Matrix. Previously, the instrument could crash after adding a modulation to this parameter.
  • When undoing an import action, the message now reads "Please wait…"
  • Automation of 2- and 3-way switches now plays back properly.
  • Windows only: previously, dialog boxes might have overlapped. This has now been fixed.

1.0.8

  • Factory data is now downloaded to a temporary file on disk instead of into RAM. This should improve reliability in rare cases in which the user's computer did not have sufficient free RAM for the download.
  • Previously, the asterisk indicating an edited state often showed after changing performances in VST3 hosts. This has now been fixed.
  • Previously, with specific Program parameter settings, changing Programs rapidly could cause a crash. This has now been fixed.
  • MIDI mappings for Unison Ensemble effect parameters now appear in the MIDI Map list.
  • The installer now allows downgrading of plug-ins if a newer version is present.
  • Parametric EQ band enable 1-4 and Unison Ensemble effects parameters are now available for automation.
  • Graphics resources are now stored separately and shared by all versions of the Vox Super Continental, including the standalone application and AU/VST3/AAX plug-ins. This reduces the size of the installer download, application, and plug-ins by a substantial amount.
  • Previously, the Reverb slot inadvertently exposed Wet/Dry as a modulation and automation target. This has now been fixed.
  • Worked around problems in a shared library which intermittently caused minor graphics glitches when the UI size was not 100%. (These affected the down-arrow caret in the effect type selector and the "power" button graphic.)
  • Windows only: previously, in the standalone application, if a modal dialog (e.g. Settings) was open, and the Windows+D shortcut was used to minimize all windows, the application window could only be reopened by pressing Windows+D again (and not by clicking the taskbar icon or using alt-tab). This has now been fixed.
  • The flute/reed drawbar graphics have been improved.

1.0.5

  • Previously, the Performance Volume parameter did not display the correct value when opening a previously-saved plug-in instance. This has now been fixed.
  • Removed inapplicable items from the published automation parameters. Previously recorded automation will still play back correctly.
  • Previously, when opening a pre-existing plug-in instance, some buttons showed the "Off" graphic even if they were On. This has now been fixed.
  • Windows only: Previously, the text in Effect Type selectors was sometimes slightly blurred. This has now been fixed.

1.0.4

  • For Volume, Vibrato Speed, Expression Trim, and various effects parameters, DAW automation values now appear as a percentage of the control position. Previously recorded automation will still play back correctly.

1.0.3

  • In the Sound Browser and the Librarian window, Categories and Collections are now kept sorted even when initial selection is missing, and when showing "All Data" in the Librarian.
  • Some inapplicable items were incorrectly included in the published automation parameters. This has now been fixed. Automation compatibility has been preserved.
  • The initial state of the Sync to Host button is now shown correctly. Additionally, the Tempo field is now grayed out when Sync to Host is enabled.
  • The Performance, Effect, Scale, and Set List selectors include a "filtered list" icon between the inc and dec arrows. This icon shows that the list is affected by settings in the Sound Browser window (such as selected Categories, Collections, and text search). Clicking the icon clears the filters without needing to open the Sound Browser. There is now more space between the icon and the inc/dec buttons, which makes it easier to click.
  • When an updated version is detected, the download link now uses https instead of http. The previous use of http caused a security warning to appear in Chrome browsers.
  • Volume and Tempo now support automation.

1.0.2

  • Improvements to initial selection of the active Set List.
  • The "Buy" button in the demo version now leads to the correct URL.

1.0.1

  • Corrected typo in installer notes.
  • Selects the factory Set List by default.

1.0

  • Initial version.
