Automatic installation of factory sounds didn't work. How can I fix this?

After the initial software installation, wavestate native downloads the factory sound database and factory Multisamples. If you encounter any difficulties with the installation, here are a few things to try.

Windows: security and anti-virus software

On Windows, security or anti-virus software may interfere with this download. If you encounter any difficulties, please first temporarily disable security or anti-virus software, and try again.

macOS: Permissions

On macOS, make sure that you have read and write permission for the selected installation folder.

If you are using the default location (/Users/Shared/KORG/wavestate native/System), confirm that you have permissions to write to /Users/Shared. If /Users/Shared/KORG already exists, check that folder too. If you are using a custom installation location, check that you have permission there instead.

Checking permissions

To check permissions settings:

  1. Select the folder in the Finder.
  2. Press command-I, or select Get Info from the File menu.
A window will appear, containing information about the selected folder.
  3. Look at the Sharing & Permissions section at the very bottom of the window. If necessary, click  on the "reveal" triangle to the left of the text.
This section shows which accounts have permission to read and/or write to the folder.
  4. If your user account is in the list, confirm that "Privilege" for that account is set to "Read & Write." If not, follow the instructions under "Setting permissions" below.
  5. If your user account is not in the list, follow the instructions under "Adding your account to permissions" below.

Setting permissions

To edit permissions settings:

  1. Click on the Lock icon in the lower right corner. Enter your password when prompted; the icon will then change to show an open lock.
  2. Select "Read & Write" for your user account.
  3. Click on the gear at the bottom middle of the window. In the menu that appears, choose "Apply to enclosed items...". If you get a message that says "Are you sure?" click OK.
  4. Click on the Lock icon again, to prevent further changes.

Adding your account to permissions

If your account is not listed yet, you'll need to add it. To do so:

  1. Click on the Lock icon in the lower right corner. Enter your password when prompted; the icon will then change to show an open lock.
  2. Click on the + at the lower left.
  3. A dialog will appear, containing a list of possible users.
  4. In the list, click on your personal user account, which is generally suffixed with "(Me)."  Click on the Select button to close the dialog.
Your user account should now be added under Sharing & Permissions, but the privilege is probably set to Read only.
  5. Change your user account's Privilege to "Read & Write."
  6. Click on the gear at the bottom middle of the window. In the menu that appears, choose "Apply to enclosed items...". If you get a message that says "Are you sure?" click OK.
  7. Click on the Lock icon again, to prevent further changes.

Manually downloading the data

If the problem persists, you can manually download and install the database and Multisamples. To do so:

  1. Close wavestate native, if it is running.
  2. Download the wavestate native factory database and Multisamples using the link below. The file is about 2 GB.
download wavestate native factory database and Multisamples
  3. Un-zip the downloaded file.
  4. Move the resulting folder, named "System," to a suitable location on your system (using an SSD is strongly recommended). It can be saved anywhere, but as defaults we recommend:
    macOS: /Users/Shared/KORG/wavestate native/System
    Windows: \Users\Public\Public Documents\KORG\wavestate native\System
  5. Run wavestate native. At startup, the software will ask for the location of the sounds; select the location from (4).
