Still no channelized midi support :/
anyway at least I don't have to upgrade my ipad...
Holy cow ... That's a feature list. My requested arpeggiator is in there, feels like heaven :D. This feature boosted my workflow radically! Fantastic update. One minor problem I figured out so far with this great iCloud sync between devices. My custom samples from Abu Dhabi aren't inlcuded. I guess this is also true for Bilbao. Is there a workaround you are aware off? Is it even possible to optionally include the samples?
Hi Gunars, Although we also wanted to support the multichannel midi support this time, we realized it takes time to develop to stabilize it...sorry about that. But, it will be supported in the next update along with our new MIDI controller shipment, so please stay tuned!
Hi Rainer, that's a good question. Actually, we considered to sync custom samples via iCloud, but it might grab the capacity of your iCloud. Currently, you can transfer the samples via iTunes File sharing as a workaround. We will make a FAQ later :)
Wow, thanks for the note! It is great to learn about upcoming multichannel midi support.
Thanks for your answer ... but that will kill the workflow. Really, I hate to use iTunes. I'd rather use Dropbox. Still... Would be great if adding and removing from iCloud Sync would work. I normally only work on a limited set of songs, normally only one. So for that period syncing would be enough and then switch of sample syncing. Or Just using dropbox in the meantime should be fine. You are right, eating up space would be worse as well. Thanks for the pointers.
You are right. Having a few options would be nice. We'll consider it!
Will it be possible to use the new Triton (Korg Module Expansion pack) in Gadget?? I bought it for Module, and would love to be able to use the sounds in Gadget!
Thanks!
@christopher - they are available inside the Glasgow gadget. They are also added to Gadget for iPhone if you do the remote install AFTER purchasing them on the iPad.
Brilliant, just seeing the Korg Gadget app on my iPhone 6 plus is exciting enough :-)
1. With regards to the syncing of audio files to the modules. Most of my files I import from Dropbox which is on both my mobile and iPad, is there a sync issue with regards to the location..? Or could you just ask to be pointed to a root folder within dropbox to sync and import all files..?
2. Is there any way to get longer audio files imported..? I Abu Dahbi lets me do 10 seconds but then fades regardless of what I do. Even making it into a single cell of 10 seconds. It just fades half way through.
3. On a quick glance I noticed the Salzburg, Montreal etc... weren't available...? This is an issue with working on some of my tracks. It would reduce me to just messing around and sketching rather than doing any important tweaks to existing tracks.
4. Will there be the ability to copy tracks to other projects?
5. Notifications in the Gadget Cloud seems be buggy, I navigate to it and it shows me notifications from 1 year ago, I then have to flick it numerous times to try to update to the latest ones and eventually get bored. I know it's a little minor but it's nice to see notifications separately from SoundCloud. It makes receiving notifications fairly pointless knowing that I can't see them instantly.
Not that I'm ungrateful for all the work you have done so far on the app, I mean, Garage band finally managed to introduce volume automation :-P
Anyway. A common sample exchange format would be awesome. I'd like to share my created sampler presets. Ideally on a hosted cloud service by you. But using dropbox and the other know sources would be just fine. That'll be brilliant for song sharing presets with others. Btw. is it possible to sync the patches to iCloud, too? So they get synced across devices
Thanks for the tip, Peter Schaufuss, I appreciate it!
Eeeeek, no Darwin! :-S
@whiskytramp - what do you mean? Darwin is there alright, if you have it on iPad you can install it on the iPhone using Remote Install in Gadget 2.0
great update....
MIDI future sounds good. I would like to select and jump to scenes by a MIDI command, from another app
I would only like one thing, please: A full-width larger keyboard in landscape mode. Thank you very much. Please do this, it's a great app, but the keyboard is too small.
@Schaufuss - I had no other purchasable gadgets apart from Abu Dahbi and Bilbao for some reason, then after that post the other ones appeared. Just installed very quickly with my iPad on and tested one of my tracks out. So all good.
Question re Darwin/iM1 integration in Gadget.
When selecting an iM1 drum kit, the piano roll names are all keyboard notes. However in say the London gadget the piano roll shows the names of the sounds in the kit.
- it would be great of Darwin would show the names of the sounds in the selected kit
I would like to be able to loop portions of the grid while editing. Let's say I have a 16 bar pattern and want to try a few variations in bars 8 & 9. It would be a great time saver to loop just those two bars, instead of having to cycle through bars 1 - 7 and 10 - 16 every time, just to repeat 8 & 9.
One of the function I used quite a bit was to swap Gadgets while working in a track. There used to be a button bellow a Gadget's interface, but this is gone now. Is there a new method to swap what Gadget is on a track?
@thomas Jensen just tap on the track name at the top of the edit window.
The new full screen gadget view is nice, but why hide the transports? Theres's plenty of room for it still and it would be useful to be able to start/stop recording while in full screen mode.
iPad Pro support is great to see but it has really shrunk the keys on the screen. I'm not finding this size as playable. I suppose I should start using the external keyboard more and enjoy the extra real estate. Do you think we will ever see audio recording for vocals? Thanks
I have tried all evening to do remote install for Darwin and every time the download stops before finishing (best result 60%). Am I the only one ?
@Fabrizio: Try to "Disable Auto-Lock" on your iPad in the "Other Settings".
No icloud happening on my ipad or iphone with this app, even tho enabled in iOS settings. I am running iOS 9.3 beta. Also can't seem to find the screen shown above with the Remote Install command at the bottom.
@xp50 player
Open an empty Gadget slot, top of the screen is a restore tab, this then brings up a dialogue on the bottom right to connect etc. Make sure you restart the app on both platforms and you are signed into iCloud on the iOS settings screen. I can't repeat it on mine as it is already installed!
The first problem is icloud desn't work. It is enabled in the app list. I don't see any settings for it within Gadget
I don't think there are any gadget settings.. Go to iOS iCloud settings and check that under iCloud Drive that Gadget appears and is selected.
iCloud Drive... that distinction was not clear in the orig instructions. Will try at home layer thx.
